Hanomag Tractors

Hanomag, a German based company formed in 1835, with a long tradition of manufacturing steam engines and construction machinery, was on the very forefront of the farm vehicle production ever since their first Hanomag tractors started to leave their factory doors back in 1912. The company continued innovation resulted in the introduction of the very first diesel engine based tractors back in 1928.

After decades of operations, its farm machinery division was merged with Rheinhstat in 1962. Merger brought out significant improvements with the incorporation of new engines from Rheinhstat, and new models were introduced in 1967.

However, in 1971 after producing over 250,000 models, the whole production of farm tractors stopped. It was then sold to Massey Fergusson. That followed with Komatsu, the world second largest manufacturer of farm equipment, taking a partial stake in the company back in 1986, and then completely buying company out in 2002. The company, to this day, remains as a self operating sub division of the Komatsu family helping serve European as well as global market.

Model R12 Toolframe tractor was one of the first models that was improved to Model R25 in 1930 and R44 in 1957. Another very popular vintage model was Granite 500 with special models produced for NATO.
