Types of used forage harvesters
There are two different types of forage harvesters, or forage chopper: ‘cut and throw’ and ‘cut and blow’. A cut and throw forage harvester relies on the windrow pick up to collect the mowed crop. It’s then the cutter head that chops the forage up before throwing it to the wagon. The cut and blow type is designed as a separate piece of equipment that’s attached to the back or side of the cutting head of the trailer. It collects the crop that the windrower or mower has cut, and blows it into the wagon.
